The health sector is a rapidly growing area of the affiliate marketing business. It's bursting with opportunity but you must be savvy about how you attack it. First things first, to whet your appetite, and then we'll discuss some of the challenges peculiar to this industry.
The market for selling health products online is tremendous and getting more tremendous every day. Particularly for niche and/or alternative products (anti-balding shampoos, energy supplements, and, yes, the ubiquitous penis-enhancing herbal extracts), the Internet is often a better sales channel for health companies than retail stores.
So much so that many health companies no longer bother with traditional sales methods at all, and operate purely over the Internet. Think about it from their perspective: these companies can maintain cheaply leased warehouses and ship out products as they're purchased, with minimal customer service headaches, barely any employees, and the ability to sell worldwide.
Affiliate marketing is an integral part of that lean, mean, global strategy. Do the math and you'll see why. Even if they pay you, the affiliate marketer, 50% of each and every sale you send them, these companies are still making a great profit, because they're not spending on the costs outlined above, nor on mainstream advertising--you're doing that for them.
From your point of view, this arrangement works just fine, because people are buying health products online by the millions upon millions and, as an affiliate marketer, all you have to do is create a website that attracts people looking for these products. You don't have to hold any inventory, make any upfront investment, or refund any unhappy customers.
And the commissions can be terrific. Some companies pay a percentage, up to 50% per sale, and others pay a flat fee, up to $60 per sale. No matter the pay scheme, make enough sales and you're making more than enough money.
Now that you're (hopefully) as excited about health product affiliate marketing as we are, it's time to mention some possible complications.
Firstly, the competition is strong, so you need to create a website with quality content in terms of original commentary, special offers, or preferably both. You need to understand that if you do not provide a compelling reason to visit your website, someone else will.
The second challenge we'd mention is related to this idea that online health products can be very trend-sensitive. Something can be hot today and ice cold tomorrow. To achieve success affiliate marketing these products, then, you must make it your business to know the difference. You must constantly search out new products and jettison old ones that aren't selling.
Done right, though, and especially if you can capitalize on a new product or trend before everyone else gets to it, the profit potential of health product affiliate marketing is astronomical.
So keep a sharp eye out for the herbal product that actually does cure male pattern baldness, because it may be coming along soon here, for sale by you.
